Communist women from Communist Party, Turkey, held a conference on women’s issue with the slogan, “Women will not fit into this regime; we will tear down the darkness.”
On February 01, The Supreme Committee of Elections (YSK) had published a list of political parties entitled to participate in the general elections, which did not include the name of the Communist Party, Turkey. The unjust omission of the Communist Party was due to misinformation provided by the Supreme Court. Upon the appeal of the Communist Party, YSK confirmed the entitlement of the Communist Party to participate in the elections.
The director of soL magazine, Hafize Kazci, has been sentenced to a prison term of 11 months and 20 days over alleged insult to President Erdogan.
During the last week, dozens of people were taken into custody and some were arrested for calling Erdogan a thief and a murderer, which has become a common discourse of protest against the president following the fatal police violence of June 2013 and unveiled corruption in December 2013.
