Central Committee Statement on the boycott, 14.02.2015
The “Boycott for Secular and Scientific Education” of February 13, which was called out by the United June Movement, has been successful.
We salute all the youth, families and teachers who showed great determination in the organization of the boycott, despite attempts of terrorization and intimidation by custody and arrest.
The activists of the June Movement, who have carried out their activities with absolute dedication and concentration for the last two months, and the United June Movement, which maintained its determination as of its National Assembly that gathered in late December, undoubtedly have a huge share in the success of the boycott.
As the Central Committee, we would like to particularly congratulate our comrades from the Communist Party, Turkey, who contributed significantly to the success of the boycott with their patient and decided efforts.
It is already known that the AKP government has recently accelerated its dark efforts to deepen its Islamic fascist dictatorship. In that respect the boycott “against compulsory religious courses and religionization of schools” is a crucial response to the government and the dictator.
The arrest of our friend, Onur Kılıç, in Izmir is a sign of the desperate last stand of the lovers of dictator who have already started to panic. We extend our sentiments of solidarity with Onur Kılıç. He should be immediately released.
